Five Palestinian journalists were killed in two Israeli airstrikes in Gaza in under 12 hours.

It brings the number of journalists killed since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October to 158, according to the Palestinian territory’s government media office.

Israeli forces killed three journalists early on Saturday — Amjad Jahjouh, his wife Wafa Abu Dabaan, and Rizq Abu Shakian — in a bombing targeting a home in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp.

On Friday evening, two Palestinian journalists, Saadi Madoukh and Ahmed Sukkar, were killed in an Israeli strike that targeted a home belonging to the Madoukh family in Gaza City’s Al-Daraj neighbourhood.

Israel has been waging a brutal war on Gaza since October, killing at least 38,098 people, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

Hospitals, ambulances, and residential buildings have been attacked, with infrastructure devastated.

South Africa has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza at the International Court of Justice. Israel denies the charge.
