Join Yollocalli & Jenin’s Tatreez for a Palestinian Embroidery/Cross Stitch workshop 🌿

We will learn the history of Palestinian tatreez and practice the art form. The three hour workshop includes a half hour presentation about the history and significance of Palestinian tatreez, two hours of instruction and discussions about our emotions as we practice this historically preserved art form, and the last half hour for attendees to browse and purchase the tatreez books, kits, and answer any questions.

Tatreez Jenin is a small business started in February 2024. Tatreez is the Arabic word for embroidery and Jenin is the name of a city and the founder of Tatreez Jenin. It was begun after recognizing the lack of tatreez education especially in the Palestinian diaspora. Chicago, which is where Jenin resides, has a large Palestinian demographic but the majority of the community doesn’t know the value of tatreez or how to practice this art. Jenin began hosting workshops and later selling resources such as beginner tatreez kits and educational tatreez books.
