An Israeli strike targeting an UNRWA school in Gaza’s Nuseirat Refugee Camp killed 17 people and wounded 80, according to the enclaves media office.
The strike comes as Israeli forces continue to pound Gaza, with Palestinian news agency WAFA reporting that Israeli artillery is striking several districts of Gaza City with Israeli helicopters flying over the city, as well as around Khan Younis.
The uptick in strikes have placed added pressure on ceasefire talks taking place between Hamas and Israel, with member of the groups political office Izzat al-Risheq denying reports that the group had pulled out of talks.
The chief of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad is set to leave for talks in the coming days in Qatar, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adds further demands onto talks.
Israel’s war on Gaza, which is now in its tenth month, has killed 38,584 Palestinians and wounded a further 88,900, leaving much of the enclave destroyed.
