Israel pounds Gaza ahead of crunch ceasefire talks in Doha

Israel forces killed more Palestinians in Thursday morning bombing,  as negotiations on a ceasefire deal is due to take place in Doha later in the day.

At least three Palestinians were killed in strikes on the Gaza City neighbourhood of Sabra, after the Israeli army targeted the homes of the Khaziq family, local media said.

Three others were killed in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Gaza City, while the Israeli military pounded several neighbourhoods as Israel’s war in Gaza enters its 314th day leaving nearly 40,000 Palestinians killed.

There were also reports of surveillance and attack drones hovering above the skies of central Gaza and Khan Younis.

The Doha ceasefire conference – which will be attended by officials from Egypt, the US, and Israel – is being described as a “last-chance summit”.

Hamas won’t participate in the talks, a senior figure in the movement told The New Arab’s Arabic-language sister site, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, insisting on a return to the Joe Biden-backed ceasefire plan, initially issued in May, which Israel has reportedly scuppered with additional demands.
