Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington for Gaza talks with Trump

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to begin talks Monday on brokering a second phase of a Gaza ceasefire deal, his office said, as he visits the new Trump administration in Washington.

Ahead of his departure, Netanyahu told reporters he would discuss “victory over Hamas”, challenging Iran, and freeing all Israeli captives held by Hamas when he meets with President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

The Israeli army is also continuing its military offensive in the occupied West Bank for the 14th consecutive, having now expanded to Tubas.

Over 25 Palestinians have been killed, with dozens being injured and detained and 15,000 civilians displaced. Israeli forces also destroyed 20 buildings in the eastern part of Jenin, damaging parts of the Jenin Government Hospital.

The Gaza Health Ministry has revealed Israel’s war has killed at least 61,709 civilians, adding the 14,222 Palestinians missing under the rubble, including over 17,000 children.
